Our Purpose
Developing and building the capabilities of Syrian filmmakers and enabling them to create a renewable cinema that will be an important cultural resource in the future of Syria and the region. The Syrian Film Institute seeks to be the right place for Syrian cinema and its fans, and an incubator for Syrian filmmakers and artists.
Funding Filmmaking
SFI launches an annual program that provides grants for film production for a variety of categories aiming to fund Syrian directors and producers with ideas of cultural and artistic values in order to enrich Syria’s cultural heritage and focus on contemporary issues that concern society, youth and feminism.
Training and Development
This sector holds an important rule focusing on building and providing well-trained teams with abilities to enrich Syrian Cinema .
Popularizing Cinema Culture
We aim to spread cinema culture in Syrian society with a hope of creating a suitable environment for Syrian filmmakers to exchange thoughts and experiences.
Assyria Film festival
It’s an annual festival that’s held between Syria and Turkey that includes various cinematic premiers for categories such as Storytelling, Musical, documentary and drama.
It’s a cultural, social, youthful and none-profitable project that works on improving cinema culture in the middle-east generally, and Syria specifically. SFI’s established to create a new start for Syrian cinema/Film and provide a new foundation for filmmaking in Syria and storytelling that strengthens the empathy and the understanding of our common humanity.
We believe in our capabilities and intellect and we have our culture and rooted civilization of which we can re-tell , by cinema , to generations ahead . “
